Welcome to our pre-digital blog!

PreDigital Book Plans

Dear 2012 DHSIers of the Session 15,

Looking forward to our DHSI sessions, I invite you to find attached, above, our plans (and dreams) for the session. Pre-digital worlds are yours to invent: do not hesitate to propose, suggest, or create them!

We suggest to prepare together a modest exhibition in the library with some Special items from the Special Collections. The theme could be one of the following, or one that you suggest in the comment box:

1 Scribblers and commentators forever alive in margins
2 Textbooks for Inquisitors in the Seghers Collection (The Seghers Collection is the Catholic Diocese Library, on loan in UVic Collections, comprising more than 3500 rare books)
3 Virgil in in UVic Special Collections
4 History of Medicine in UVic Special Collections
5 Floras and Natural Histories in UVic Special Collections
6 Aldine editions in UVic Special Collections (Aldus Manutius is the founder of the Aldine Presses in Venice: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldus_Manutius )

Visit and feed the poll for our theme.

Visit our library catalogue  and find some pre-digital items you would like to know better. (In Limits, set Special Collections in order to be offered only non-digitized documents). Let us know of titles that make you curious, intrigued, or passionate!

For any question, please write to hcazes@uvic.ca or in the comment box below.

Pre-digitally yours,

Hélène Cazes
